In the last post, this blog began a discussion of serious charges that have been filed in Rice County against a former drama teacher at Shattuck-St, Mary's prep school in Faribault, Minnesota. The man faces 17 counts of sex crimes from allegations that arose between 1996 and 2003.

Police accuse the man of throwing "Pornographic parties where there was masturbation on the part of the students." Officials say that a ruler was used during parties to measure the students.

Faribault Police assert that the man accused of sex crimes would hold what police describe as special "sessions" with male students at the prep school that could involve several students at a time. Law enforcement alleges that the drama teacher also would organize parties in the showers of the dorm with students.

The allegations involved in the current charges allegedly occurred between 1996 and 2003, before the drama teacher was fired. Authorities claim that the school terminated the actor after the pornography was allegedly found on his computer. A report from Fox 9 News in the Twin Cities says that the actor currently faces one count of possession of child pornography.

Authorities say that the actor is being held in Los Angeles on unidentified and unrelated charges. Apparently, LA Police interrogated the man in California related to the Minnesota allegations, although it is not clear in the media in Minnesota what the nature of that interrogation involved. Police claim that the actor told police in LA that he touched students in Minnesota and that he admits that it was stupid.

The charges range from second-degree and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct to solicitation of a child to engage in a sexual act, and from possession of child porn to the use of minors in a sexual performance or pornographic work. The case is filed in Rice County.

It is unclear if extradition proceedings have begun as the defendant remains in custody on the alleged unrelated offenses in California.
